Kirsty Masters – UK
Meet Kirsty, the driving force behind the Nurture UK’s recipient team. Kirsty is passionate about helping families in the UK find the perfect egg donor as they fulfil their dream of having a child.
Describe in 10 words or less what you do at Nurture UK?
I liaise with recipients and match them to donors.
What does a typical day at Nurture UK look like for you?
First thing I do is check all my emails and respond to any recipient queries that have come through – as well as team updates on any matches that are currently in progress. I liaise with recipients either over email, on the phone or through social media. I’m also responsible for updating the UK FB page and replying to all the queries on FB.
We have a weekly team meeting and some days I travel to London to meet with the clinics or recipients face to face.
Each day is different and brings new exciting challenges.
What has been the highlight of your Nurture UK career?
When our first Nurture UK baby was born …. and working with our fabulous team!
What was your day job before Nurture UK?
HR manager for a software company in London
What is family to you?
Everything…. My family are my world!!
What does a typical day in your household look like?
Rushed mornings getting everyone organised for the day but once the kids are at school I make myself a coffee and sit down to focus on work. Late afternoons are usually spent helping with homework and chauffeuring kids to after school activities and then after they’re in bed and I’ve done some exercise and replied to any urgent work emails, evenings are spent curled up on the sofa with my hubby and dogs watching Netflix!
What would you want every donor to know?
What you’re doing is life changing so think about it really hard before you commit to a match – understand the impact this has and ask as many questions as you need to before you say ‘yes’.
If you could know that absolute truth about something what would it be?
Is there life beyond our planet?
What do you do when you’re not working at Nurture UK
Spend time with my family, walk the dogs, exercise and paint when I get the rare chance!
Describe your ideal picnic basket
Lots of different types of cheeses, seedy crackers, hot chilli sauce, humus, crudites and a very chilled bottle of prosecco!
What is the best advice you’ve ever received
I have a few that I try and live by:
The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It’s about what you’re made of, not the circumstances…
Don’t be a victim….
Life isn’t waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain…
Don’t judge people if you haven’t walked in their shoes….
