Surrogacy is a wonderful and deeply satisfying experience that is built on mutual respect, partnership and teamwork. We are thrilled at your interest in becoming a surrogate and facilitating a dream come true for future parents. Unfortunately there are so many women who are unable to carry their own children. Without the generosity of women like you, many would have to face a future of broken hearts and empty arms.

“This has been a positive experience since the first day, and I have not felt any regret or doubt doing this. I can’t wait for this to work, I really want my IPs to have a little baby of their own. They will be the best parents, and if I can make this dream come true for them, then my dream will also have come true.” Surrogate “M”

Here at Nurture we work with a team of the best surrogacy professionals in the country. We partner with social workers, psychologist, lawyers and fertility clinics to ensure that our surrogates and future parents are cared for and supported through out the entire process.

Medical Eligibility to Become a Surrogate

A successful surrogate candidate will be over the age of 21, and will have delivered at least one baby, at term (9 months), and without major complication. Surrogates must be non-smokers, live in smoke free households and have no history of serious or ongoing medical problems. Surrogates must be able to attend all medical appointments during the treatment cycle and during the pregnancy.

How to apply to become a surrogate

The first step in the process will be for you to fill in an initial application form, supplying us with your basic information. You can get that application form by emailing Kim at kim@nurture.co.za.

If you meet the basic requirements, Kim will ask you to complete a detailed application, supplying us with all the information we need in order to see if you qualify as a potential surrogate.

The next step would be for us to have a one on one chat so that you can get a chance to understand exactly what is involved in being a surrogate, plus we get to meet you personally.

After that, a psychological pre-screening appointment is scheduled. Once all of that has been done, you are officially welcomed on to our program!

Once you’ve been matched with the future parents, our team of professionals take over and all your social, medical and legal requirements are looked after by the experts.

Medications and Procedures

A variety of medications and procedures are utilized in order to achieve pregnancy. The menstrual cycles of the mother and the surrogate are “synchronized” using short acting hormonal medication. This is usually done within one to three weeks of a cycle start. In this way, the uterus of the surrogate is prepared to follow the progress of the mother’s egg production, so that the resulting embryos can be successfully transferred to the womb of the surrogate.
